Current UFC 93-pound division titleholder Brazilian Alex Pereira has openly announced that he is ready to fight former UFC flyweight title challenger American Anthony Smith. The stakes are high at the moment, Pereira even announced the amount he is willing to bet on the match, which is $50,000. Earlier Smith doubted the skills of Pereira, who is a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Portal Bloody Elbow was able to get a comment from Pereira on the matter and here’s how it was, “I’m willing to make a bet with Anthony Smith: give him my back, let him tuck my legs in, and give him five minutes to finish me. We can do that. There will be $50,000 at stake.”
On May 5, UFC 301 already took place and was watched by a large number of fans, where Anthony Smith stepped into the octagon against Vitor Petrino. Anthony won the fight, won by a choke hold in the first round.

And here passions run high, given the mood and what answer Smith himself gave. Sure, he doubts Alex Pereira is serious about challenging him to a grappling match, but he also wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to settle his beef with the former UFC champion.
“I mean, I would do it. But do you think he would do it? No way, no way,” Smith said Wednesday on “The MMA Hour,” referencing Pereira’s recent social media post in which he appeared to challenge Smith to a fight at a future UFC Fight Pass Invitational .
According to Smith, the foreign information flow that is presented in the media may not always carry a credible message. Or it is designed to convince the masses that it is true. Two internationally decorated fighters are steadfastly defending the title and the honor of their title by throwing some controversial remarks on the internet and their social networks.
“I’d fight him right now in my backyard,” Smith added. “It wouldn’t matter. I’d smoke him in a grappling match.
As Smith also commented, Alex Pereira is trying to get his business up and running, and this kind of statement could just as well boost his ratings and create some intrigue.
